# Creating Comment Style Packs

Source: https://help.ligosocial.com/articles/creating-comment-style-packs

Comment styles teach LigoAI how you write comments. You pick or build a style once on the **Style Preferences** page in the web app, and the Chrome extension uses it every time you generate comments on LinkedIn. This guide is for anyone who wants generated comments to sound like them.

## Where to find Style Preferences

- **Direct link:** [https://app.ligosocial.com/style-preferences](https://app.ligosocial.com/style-preferences)
- **From the extension:** open the **Comments** tab in the side panel and click the **+ My styles** chip at the end of the style row. The page opens in a new tab.
- **Classic layout:** in the sidebar, open **ENGAGE** and click **Style Preferences**. (The default Focus layout has no sidebar item for this page, so use the link or the extension chip.)

The page has two tabs: **LiGo Styles** (ready-made styles from us) and **My Styles** (styles you build from your own examples).

## Option 1: Turn on ready-made LiGo Styles

The **LiGo Styles** tab opens first. It lists built-in styles such as **Professional**, **Casual & Friendly**, **Witty & Clever**, **Thought Leader**, **Supportive & Encouraging**, **Inquisitive**, **Storyteller**, **Short & Punchy**, **Contrarian**, **Motivational**, **Edgy / Bold** and **Analytical**.

1. Read the description and the **Best for** line on each card. Click **Preview examples** to see sample comments.
2. Use the switch on a card to turn that style on or off. Only styles that are on appear in the extension.
3. Use **Enable All** or **Disable All** to change every card at once.
4. Click **Set as Default** on the style you want preselected in the extension.

## Option 2: Create your own style

Your own style learns from example comments, so it can match your phrasing much more closely.

1. Open the **My Styles** tab and click **+ Add Style**.
2. On the welcome screen, click **Create a Style**.

3. On **Name Your Style**, type a name (for example "Peer comments" or "Industry leaders") and click **Next: Add Examples**. You can rename it later.

4. On **Add Comment Examples**, pick up to 10 examples:
   - Use the language and category dropdowns to filter our example library (English, German, Spanish, French, Dutch, Italian and Danish).
   - Tick the examples that sound like you. They appear under **Selected Examples**.
   - To use a comment you wrote yourself, click **Add Custom**, paste it into the box and click **Add Example**.
5. Click **Create Style**.

Your new style appears under **My Styles** and as a chip in the extension.

## Manage a style

Each card on **My Styles** gives you these options:

- **Add Example** opens **Add Examples to "<style name>"**, with the same library and **Add Custom** box. Each style holds up to 10 examples.
- **Pencil and trash icons** next to the style name rename or delete the style. Deleting asks you to confirm in a **Delete style?** dialog.
- **Pencil and trash icons** on each example edit or remove that example (**Delete example?** asks you to confirm).
- **Show <n> More** / **Show Less** expands the example list.
- **Set Default** makes this style the one preselected in the extension. The current default shows a **Default** badge. There is one default across both tabs.

## Use your style in the extension

1. On LinkedIn, click the **Engage** button that LigoAI adds to a post, or right-click the post, open the **LigoAI** entry in the menu and choose **💬 Generate Comments**. The side panel opens on the **Comments** tab with the post text filled in. You can also paste a post into the **Paste LinkedIn post here...** box yourself.
2. Under **Comment style**, click a chip to choose a style. Your default is selected already. The first three styles show as chips; the rest sit under **More (n)**.
3. Optional: in the **Custom instructions are off. Guide the AI response tone.** strip, click **Edit** and add directions such as "Concise, no hashtags, ask a follow-up question" (up to 250 words). Click **Save**. Custom instructions apply on top of your style, so this is where you control emojis, hashtags and length.
4. Click **Generate Comments**, then copy the one you like and paste it on LinkedIn.

## What makes a good example

- Real comments you have posted on LinkedIn, not comments you wish you had written.
- A mix of types: a question, a short agreement, a story, a thoughtful addition.
- Different lengths, so the AI learns how short or long you usually go.
- At least 3 to 5 examples per style. Add more over time when a generated comment feels off.

Keep it to two or three styles for clear contexts, for example one for peers and one for senior leaders in your industry.

## Common questions

**Can I create styles inside the extension?**
No. You create and edit styles on the **Style Preferences** page. The extension lists the styles that are on and lets you pick one.

**A style I made is not showing in the extension.**
Close and reopen the **Comments** tab, or check under the **More (n)** chip. For LiGo Styles, make sure the switch on the card is on.

**Where did the emoji and hashtag switches go?**
Styles no longer have those switches. Use **Custom instructions** in the extension's **Comments** tab instead, for example "no emojis, no hashtags".

**Can I share a style with my team?**
Styles belong to each LigoSocial account. Each team member creates their own.
